I am searching for any assistance or information anyone can offer regarding a painting. The painting has no signature, or any type of artists name. The only thing I can find is in the lower left corner. Theres an impression in the Canvas that appears in an L shape conforming to the corner of the canvas. The Impression Appears to be in Spanish, and appears Downwards to say Aq`ua`relle´-Which in Spanish translation is Water colors or the art w/use of such water colors, and then across Vucub- which my research found this was the name of the Mayan Death God of the underworld Xibalbay.
The canvas is incased in a Frame that has about 4-6 inches in depth, and the Canvas appears aged. The Painting itself Is, I believe, an abstract painting. Actually though the painting doesnt right away take shape in just a glance. It was only as I kept it in sight that an elfish demonic like face begin to take shape. The owner is a friend, and a very mysterious soul. Until recently she had paid the painting no attention. It appears to be a painting with watercolors, and acrylic paint used as a 2nd layer, was just thrown on the canvas afterwards. Its amazing though how the paint takes shape on the canvas so perfectly but appears, so chaotic. Its like the paints are in disarray at a glance, but upon further investigation they appear as carefully placed marks. The texture appears as splattered paint, as paint would look if on the tips of fingers and slung on the canvas.
One day out of the blue, a woman she claims to have never met, purposely bumped into her at the supermarket. This woman spoke of the evil from within her home. She spoke of an evil presence within her home and that she needed to remove it immediately or harm would come to her and her son. My friend, thinking that the woman had hit the bottle or pipe a few to many times, paid her no mind. However, the womans persistence bought her a minute or two of my friends time. It was when the woman continued to explain and properly introduce, that my friend said that for some unknown reason she was compelled to believe the woman. For some reason she said she felt she could trust this woman, which presented herself as a some sort of interpreter of the spiritual world, a witch of sorts. She trusted her so much that she invited her to her home. Now I know anyone who has read thus far is probably in disbelief, much as I was upon first hearing the story. But just follow me a little further. As I was saying she invited the women to her home at her request to find out why the woman felt an evil presence was there. Upon arrival my friend said that it was the darkest of night she had ever seen. And by chance her security light was out. My friend, a little spooked, scurried indoors with her son and the women following. Almost instantaneously the woman felt the evil presence and was drawn to the living room. After entering she turned to where the painting was hanging and froze. She gazed at the painting for about 5-10 minutes, my friend said, almost lifeless. When she did speak she spoke in language my friend was unsure of, and said the painting had enormous energy and she felt this was stronger than she had foreseen. Also she felt, now being in its presence, that she had given my friend poor advice. She saw a terrible tragedy which would come to her and her family if she just removed the painting. Anyway rounding it all up, the woman placed some sort of bind on the painting. This was done in a ceremonious manner, in which I interrupted. This all happened months ago at the end of 2003 and there is much more to this bizarre story to anyone interested or that can help with our search for an artist or any info on the painting itself. I can also provide a picture of the painting, which by the way, I have had a hell of a time trying to develop.
Thanx,
Lost Soul

| Its not really, as you referred to it, "a setup". However my friend would be interested in getting rid of it once we have gathered enough information on the piece to place value on it. Art, as wicked and chilling as this piece may be, can be invaluable and/or priceless. A picture is, after all, worthy in words, not only dollars. That being said its monetary value, as of now, is of no relevance. However, I appreciate any feedback, even from those prone to seek answers for questions they do not understand. |

This reminds me of the story of the haunted Jewish cabinet being sold on eBay. The specific page probably won't be around any longer, but it goes a little along the same lines as this story. With the exception that
the people who had the cabinet in their homes actually did get haunted, with hallucinations and weird power shortages and accidents coming with the haunting territory. Now i don't know if either of these stories are true or just a hoax but they both gave me goosebumps just the same. Call me a sucker for the paranormal if you will. Sorry to say i can't give you any more about your painting though.
